Water is life, and for the residents of Jinja Village, this statement has never been more true. After years of fetching water from a contaminated stream 5 kilometers away, the community now has access to clean water thanks to a newly installed borehole.
The project was identified as a priority need during our community assessment in January. Women and children were spending up to 3 hours daily collecting water, and waterborne diseases were rampant.
"My children used to get sick all the time from the dirty water," shared Mama Grace, a mother of four. "Now we have clean water just a few meters from our home. This is truly a blessing."
The borehole serves over 200 households and was constructed using environmentally sustainable techniques. A water management committee has been trained to maintain the facility and ensure its long-term sustainability.
